Aledo High School Student Allegedly Generates and Distributes Deepfake Nudes of Seven Female Classmates

October 15, 2023

In October 2023, an unnamed male student at Aledo High School outside Fort Worth, Texas allegedly generated and distributed deepfake nude images of seven female classmates via social media. The incident involved Elliston Berry and her friend group. Berry's mother, Anna McAdams, reached out to Senators Ted Cruz and Amy Klobuchar, leading to the drafting of the TAKE IT DOWN Act—a bill aimed at addressing deepfake incidents. This serves as an example of the need for trustworthy AI, safe and secure AI practices, and AI governance.
