The Unintended Consequences of Amazon's Automated Recruitment Tool

In 2014, an automated hiring tool developed by Amazon was discovered to show gender bias in its recommendations. The tool, designed to streamline the company's recruitment process, had inadvertently learned from resumes that were predominantly submitted by men, leading to a less diverse candidate pool.
