Multiple Purported AI-Assisted Cheating Incidents Reported Across South Korea's SKY Universities During October 2025 Midterms

Reports from South Korea's prestigious SKY universities have surfaced alleging multiple instances of unapproved AI use during the October 2025 midterm examinations. At Yonsei University, numerous students are said to have utilized ChatGPT and similar tools in contravention of a ban implemented on Oct. 15 for an online test. Similarly, Korea University and Seoul National University reported instances of students leveraging AI or exchanging answers through group chats, resulting in disciplinary measures across these institutions. These incidents underscore the importance of safe and secure AI practices and highlight the need for robust governance mechanisms to ensure responsible AI use.
