May 4, 2024

An advert on Facebook, allegedly AI-manipulated, utilized footage of Bulgarian actor, director, and playwright Kamen Donev. The ad is claimed to have overlaid fabricated audio and doctored lip movements to promote a purported joint-pain product. A presumably fake article, mimicking a Bulgarian news outlet, was linked in the advertisement, directing users to an online sales funnel for a product said to be unavailable through pharmacies. This incident underscores the need for responsible AI governance and highlights potential misuses of AI technology.
