Purported Deepfake Reportedly Circulated on Facebook Impersonating Thai PBS World Anchors and Business Figures to Solicit Investments

August 28, 2025

A deepfake video, purportedly created using AI technology, was spread on Facebook, impersonating Thai PBS World anchors and business figures. The video promoted a fraudulent 'Crystallum AI' investment promising high returns. Investigations revealed that the original clip was traced to a 2013 NHK report, but it misused logos and likenesses. This incident underscores the importance of responsible AI governance and safe and secure AI practices.
