Purportedly AI-Generated Videos Reportedly Impersonated Ghanaian President John Mahama to Solicit Money and Personal Data

Ghanaian media reported an alleged online scam using AI-generated deepfake videos to impersonate President John Dramani Mahama, soliciting money and personal information from the public. Police linked the operation to suspects in Ghana's Volta Region, involving fake social media accounts and digitally manipulated presidential imagery.

The scammers allegedly used these fake videos and social media profiles to trick victims into divulging sensitive information or sending financial support. Authorities are investigating this incident as a potential threat to national security and online integrity.
