Reported AI-Generated Audio of Ukrainian Commander Andriy Biletsky Used in Russian Disinformation Campaign

June 30, 2025

In mid-June 2025, a misleading video emerged on Russian Telegram channels, featuring an AI-generated audio track claiming to be Ukrainian commander Andrii Biletskyi. The clip alleged that Ukrainian authorities concealed the identities of fallen soldiers to deny compensation. Independent verification confirmed the voice was synthetic and did not match original footage of Biletskyi from May 16. Hive Moderation verified the audio's extensive use of AI. This case underscores the importance of responsible AI governance and the need for trustworthy AI in preventing such disinformation campaigns.
