Russian Influence Operation Allegedly Uses AI to Create Fake Kamala Harris Campaign Website and Rhino-Hunting Hoax

September 25, 2024

A suspected Russian disinformation operation, associated with Storm-1516 and Kremlin propagandist John Mark Dougan, is said to have utilized AI-generated content to undermine the election bid of Kamala Harris. The campaign involved a fabricated website promoting controversial policies and an AI-amplified deepfake video falsely accusing Harris of hunting an endangered rhino in Zambia. These deceptions were disseminated through Telegram, X, VK, and pro-Kremlin media outlets.
