Scammers Reportedly Used AI-Generated Images of Missing Dog Archer to Solicit Fraudulent Vet Payment from Deltona, Florida Family

April 12, 2026

Scammers reportedly employed AI-generated images of a missing beagle mix, Archer, on an operating table, after his owner Bill Cosens posted about him on social media. A caller claimed that Archer had been hit by a vehicle and needed $2,800 in emergency surgery. Suspicious of the situation, Cosens researched the supposed veterinary clinic address and sent no money. Fortunately, Archer was later safely returned to his family. Through JOIN US, learn more about the importance of AI governance and guardrails for preventing such incidents.
