AI-Generated Video Allegedly Falsely Endorses Pain Treatment on Facebook

September 3, 2024

A recent incident on Facebook involved a video, allegedly AI-generated or manipulated from older footage, styled as a TV news segment. The clip purported to show Croatian neurosurgeon Josip Paladino endorsing the pain treatment product Steplex following an on-air assault. This content misled users by directing them to a page mimicking Croatia's Ministry of Health and soliciting purchases and personal data.
